Join us on the evening of Friday June 2nd for s’mores, campfires, and hiking to celebrate the opening of a new trail extension at Mill Pond Preserve! The extension highlights Charlestown’s natural diversity as it takes you uphill, through meadows and forest, and ultimately to Hannah Clarkin Pond, making the blue trail a one-and-a-half-mile hike. This trail was planned by CLT intern Evan Travis as a part of his senior project and was constructed by a group of wonderful
volunteers.
If you choose, pick a guided hike to join! Evan will be leading a hike at 5 pm and detail the ins and outs of his project. Robin Baranowski, a URI field botanist, will be leading a plant walk at 5:30 pm. If you’d rather, you can take a leisurely self-guided stroll and wander the trails on your own. Prefer to skip the walk and just enjoy some s’mores and relaxation? Then pop in around 6:00 pm as we light the chimineas!

Mill Pond Preserve is across from East Charles St. on South County Trail.
Sturdy shoes suggested. Feel free to bring additional snacks and camp chairs!
